Gaming Platform of Choice: Console

A year later the playing field changed. Several high-profile titles released and my poor baby just couldn't handle them. All of a sudden I was stuck in the past, playing my old games over and over because my machine couldn't keep up with progress. I caved in and ordered more memory. And a new video card. Four-hundred dollars later and I was back in the game, but there was one small problem—my hard drive was too slow. But I couldn't upgrade because my motherboard wouldn't support the newer, faster models. I was stuck. "What should I do?" I asked myself. "Build a rig from scratch?"

If your computer doesn't resemble this…

…your games might look like this.
I mulled the decision over for a while. I scoured hardware forums, asked a million questions, read every review I could find, and price shopped for the best possible rate on every part. After months of sleuthing, I finally came to a conclusion. "To hell with this crap. I'm buying a console."
Gone are the days of outdated hardware drivers, incompatible video cards, and half-hour installations (ok, except for Final Fantasy XI…but who still plays that?). No longer do I have to examine the back of every game box with an electron microscope to figure out if I have the "recommended" gear for an optimum (or even passable) experience. The games are guaranteed to work.
