So, you marked down November 19, 2006 on your calendar, you scrounged up 250 smackers, and you headed down to your local retailer and pre-ordered all the goods. You are totally set for the Wii launch, right? Well unfortunately, while the Wii is a very nice looking console on its own, it won’t do much for you if you don’t get the right games and accessories at launch. Don’t worry though, whether you are on a budget or whether you are a hardcore Wii fanatic that has to get every single one of the great games coming out at launch, we got your back.

The aim of this article is to provide a guide for three types of gamers that might be planning on getting a Wii, and help them decide what games and accessories are the most likely to be worth their cash.

Let’s face it, not all of us are rolling in the dough. Much of the Wii’s target audience is probably getting the money for the Wii from their parents, and most parents probably aren’t willing to spend more than what is needed for the system and one game. For those gamers, here are the bare bones essentials to get you started with your Wii.

1. Wii Console and Wii Sports

One of the biggest surprises that came out of Nintendo’s New York City Event was that Wii Sports is actually going to be bundled in with the Wii console. This is great news for budget gamers since it means you can enjoy both the multiplayer fun of Wii Sports (if your friends want to bring over their own controllers,) as well as the single player experience of whatever game you decide to get. 2. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Price: $49.99

It should go without saying that any Zelda game on a Nintendo system is an absolute must have for gamers of all ages. With its sensational graphics, realistic art style, and unique use of the Wii controller, Twilight Princess is no exception. In fact, Twilight Princess is looking to be the best Zelda game yet. It’s the realistic Zelda that everyone has been waiting for ever since the Gamecube showed what it could do way back when it first launched. Hands down, if your budget only allows for one game on the Wii, make it Twilight Princess.
