One of the things that really add to that fun is the way that the cars and the racing surface itself incur damage. You'll start out with a pristine ride that looks like it rolled off the showroom floor moments ago and end with a car that is at the very least caked with dust and dirt.
At most, the car will be what insurance companies call a total loss. Smack your side into the rock wall of a mountain and watch as your quarter panel collapses or your door comes off its hinges, littering the track behind you. The Colin McRae series has always been known for its damage modeling, but the way it works here surpasses anything the series has done in the past and may even rival that of Forza Motorsport 2. These cars will take some real abuse and show it.

And speaking of the way things look in DIRT, the graphics provided by the game's Neon engine are impressive as hell. Not only do the cars look like their real-life counterparts, the environments look so much like the real world it's frightening. Grass and shrubs wave in the breeze4 and react to your car's passing accordingly. Dust and particles kicked up look just like the real thing - I half expected a ding in my TV screen from a wayward rock, just like you might get in your windshield when driving behind an eighteen wheeler on the freeway.
If you've been dying to get a little rally racing under your belt after doing so much track racing in the Forza demo that came out a few weeks ago, then Dr. DIRT has the medicine you need. Go get this demo, play the hell out of it, and eagerly await the full game's June 15th release.
