Deserts and sugar-high midnight munchies

Chocolate Covered Bananas (warning: prep time ahead!)

Chocolate Covered Bananas: fruity (in both senses) but completely delicious.

-2 ripe bananas
-2 wooden ice cream sticks or skewers
- 1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped, unsalted, roasted peanuts

Peel bananas, insert wooden stick into each banana piece, and place on wax paper covered tray cover; cover. Freeze until firm. In top of double boiler over hot (not boiling water), melt chocolate chips and shortening. Remove bananas from freezer just before dipping. Dip each piece into chocolate mix; cover completely and roll in peanuts. Cover and return to freezer. Prep Time: 5 minutes, 1 hour freezing.

Ok, so this one takes a bit of waiting while your special treats freeze, but it’s totally worth it for the tasty (and semi-nutritious) results. An added bonus: foods on sticks are perfect for gaming. Just try not to eat any in front of your friends, lest you become the butt of a few hundred jokes.

Red Bull Float

Red Bull Float: guaranteed to keep you up for two hours or more, and tastier than it sounds.

-1Bottle Red Bull Soda
- 2 Scoops ice cream (flavor your choice, works best with chocolate or vanilla)

Pour the soda halfway into a large glass. Scoop the ice cream and slowly add soda until you reach the top of the glass. Add a straw and enjoy. Prep Time: 2 minutes. The best bet for late night gaming sessions that require caffeine and sugar. Just watch for the inevitable crash – waking up on your controller or keyboard can be a painful thing.
