Deca Sports Interview

Has a release date for North America and/or Europe been finalized yet?

I don’t have details on the European release, but for North America we are planning a ship date in May 2008.

Are there plans to bring the game to any other platforms in the future?

We have already heard from people that they would love to see a DS version, so we’ll see. I think it all comes down to how well the current version, which is exclusively designed for the Wii, ends up selling. But the signs are good that we’ll take a look at other platforms.

Finally, is there anything else you would like to add?

What I never expected was that some of the sports that aren’t typically featured in video games ended up being the popular in our office and with the media! I can’t believe how Figure Skating and Curling have become such “must play” sports! People love our interpretation of Figure Skating, because it combines completing a routine set to music, and pulling off jumps and tricks.

And I finally see what all the Canadians have been going crazy for all these years with Curling. It is downright fun, and I never realized just how much strategy goes into playing the sport. Having 10 sports in one package really opens up the opportunity to try different sports that simply haven’t had much spotlight before, so I really look forward to seeing what we do for ongoing sequels!
