FreeGen is a 3D tactical multiplayer first person shooter in space. It's not a space sim - it's a combined indoor/outdoor shooter. So don't look for physical realism - look for action and cunning!
The gameplay demo is just a conceptual version of FreeGen, which demonstrates the main idea of the game. The demo is LAN multiplayer only, without Internet and singleplay (bots), which of course will be added later. In the final release most code (graphics and network engine, AI, etc.) and art will be changed or replaced.
In FreeGen you are the pilot of a small highly manoeuverable spaceship, member of one of the four alliances (red, blue, green and yellow), equiped with four matter-compressing cargo bays (slots). They hold several basic modules: Repair Base, Container, 3 Defense Guns and 3 Gravity Wells. The ship has one laser gun (which needs no recharging) and one missile launcher (which can hold up to 30 missiles).
In the beginning all players appear far from the alien structure (base, spaceship, station, etc.), and every alliance appears in its own sector of space. When the player’s ship is destroyed, all of the modules he has installed blow up, and the alliance gives him a new ship, in which he appears again in the alliance’s sector, far from the action.
If the enemy destroys the player’s repair base or a container, his alliance gives him a new one. The player must simply travel to the appearance sector of the alliance to pick it up. The destroyed defense guns and gravity wells are not replaced.
