Dope Wars for Windows, the politically incorrect but hugely popular drug dealing game from Beermat Software, is the underground's answer to minesweeper — quick to install, easy to play, and tailor-made for workday lulls and quick breaks.

This low tech but high fun game casts you as a debt ridden drug dealer - $2000 in your pocket, but $5500 in debt to a Loan Shark. The only way to get out of this debt trap is to make money by buying the available drugs and then moving to a new location and hoping the price moves up, or is driven up by market demands.

Sounds simple? It is! Except, of course, there's a certain cop called Officer Hardass on your tail, and he's rightly not too impressed with drug dealers. He'll come after you repeatedly with his deputies. You'll have to buy weapons from the store to shoot it out with Hardass and his deputies if you want to escape from them, or you could stay where you are and take your chances of not getting arrested. Alternatively, you could try just running away!

Let him catch you, and it's a night in the slammer for you!

Then there's the loan sharks, who want their money back. Yesterday. If you don't pay them in a timely fashion, they will give you a few kindly 'reminders', usually involving you, a window, a chainsaw, and a long drop. You have the choice of borrowing from up to five loan sharks, each having their own extortionate interest rates and repayment deadlines. You can borrow money from one loan shark to pay off your debt to another, or to give you ready cash to buy more drugs, but it's a vicious spiral into debt if you don't get lucky with your deals!

Assuming you make it through all that and other hazzards like getting mugged and dropping drugs, you will get an encrypted version of your final score. By creating a Dealer account (for free) on this website, you can enter this score into the 'World Tables' and see how you compare with other Dealers from around the World. If you wish to compete against a select group of friends or colleagues, you can create a 'Cartel' on the website, get your people to join it, and then you can view each others scores in your very own mini-league. The website will soon be hosting competitions to find the best cartels out there.
