This beta demo features a tutorial level and several missions from the full version.DEMO REVIEW
By now you’ve probably heard the hoopla around the Spider-man 2 demo on PC. If not, here’s the deal. The PC version is a watered down version of the free-roaming, action-packed console version, targeted more towards a younger audience. The demo gives us a look at the surprise change and features two levels from the full version.
The first thing that will disappoint you is the web swinging. Instead of your web lines attaching to buildings and swinging off of those, your lines will attach to pre-determined spots which are identified by a web icon hanging about 10 feet off the side of a building. You swing from these points by aiming your cursor at them and clicking and off you go. The swinging loses a lot of its flair since you can only swing where swing points inhabit.
Fighting is quite uninspired, as all you have to do is look at the enemy and rabidly click the left mouse button. There is one combo to speak of, which involves jumping and clicking the left mouse to do a kick. If you are some distance away from an enemy you may also click them a use your web line to cover their eyes or pull their weapon out of their hand.
People on the streets are completely static, the lucky ones with one repeating animation and none of them will react to your presence. Graphics are pretty dull, you won’t be impressed by anything here at all.
Overall, I was not impressed at all by the demo.
