GWN had very humble beginnings. It launched officially in February 1998 as PC Gameworld (www.pcgameworld.com) and has grown to be one of the most popular gaming sites on the Internet with over 50,000 visitors daily.

My interest in games began when I got my first computer - it was a Sega with 32KB of memory and no hard disk. It was more like a console game unit than a computer, but I played around with the BASIC programming language, the games were good, and I thought it was overall a pretty cool machine.

Next came an Amiga 500 (the ultimate games machine!). Then a couple of years later I bought a Macintosh (gasp! - let me explain, I used to work in Advertising and everyone else had one...).

Eventually I became resigned to the fact that I would HAVE to get a PC, and haven't looked back since. I'm also into Xbox 360 - you can't beat HD gaming on a big screen! I like action games, classic games and flight simulators, and when I'm not working you can find me at the beach, at the gym, or DJing at home!

Content Manager

I've been the Content Manager for Gameworld Network since 1998 (then known as PC Gameworld) and in that time have helped it grow to become what is now one of the most popular gaming destinations online.

A few of my responsibilities include writing the news, editing all the reviews and articles produced by our writers, liasing with PR from just about every known game publisher on the face of the earth, producing the graphics you see on GWN and thinking up new and interesting article suggestions to keep our writers busy.

I love this industry! However, E3 and I have a love-hate relationship. While I do enjoy the festivities, it is my busiest time of the year. And yet, to me games are more than just a hobby. Over the years, the interactive entertainment industry has without a doubt become a part of who I am. Like New York, it is a giant magnet which sucks you in.

When I'm not working, I enjoy going out with friends, playing some tennis, going for a bike ride, hitting the gym, watching TV, shopping, and of course, playing games!

Despite a rather varied career, the one constant I've had through the years is gaming. My very first article, an interview for Atari Explorer magazine, was with a developer who only spoke French. This was made even more interesting by the simple fact that I spoke four words of the language, none of which would have been appropriate to say. Before moving on to other publications, I was the proud features editor for all things Atari Jaguar, and to this day I will defend that sad little console and its one good game.

Writing for GWN remains one of the most enjoyable writing experiences of my career, the knowledge and ability of the staff is absolutely top notch. I'm a technology guy with a degree in computer science (and business), a passion for games and writing about them, a love of graphics and web design, a level 60 priest in World of Warcraft and owner of enough self-created and modded technology to power most third world nations. My passion for the video game industry is so strong that for my first job as a game tester I commuted 120 miles each way, every day, including crossing two major Bay Area bridges at rush hour. I should also mention that I play the guitar and ski, which is most likely the only way I snagged my beautiful fiancée, Katie. I have subsequently turned her to our side, and she is now the proud owner of a level 60 warrior in WOW.

I am also the playwright of "Evidence, Alibi and A Fairly Naked Dead Man", and if you are the person that saw it, please call me as I believe you left your hat in the theatre.

Writer - Flight & Racing Sim Expert
Name a military flight sim and he's flown it. Name a racing sim from Papyrus and he's driven it. Name a tactical military FPS with the name "Tom Clancy" on the box and he's been immersed in it. Since the early days of electronic gaming on Intellivison, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, and Amiga 500, Walter Hurdle has raged through his favorite genres, kicking butt and taking names. Primarily a PC gamer today, sports games on the Xbox being the sole exception, GWN's resident "Superfreak" keeps it real when dissecting games for lucky visitors to the site.

The day I first laid eyes on a video game was like an epiphany. I was just about two years old, and my father carried me into a game room at the apartment complex where we lived. I remember looking down at the metal steering wheel (they were made of real metal back then)and thinking...well, I was only two, so I just remember wanting to touch it.

Then we moved to a house that, unfortunately, didn't come equipped with an arcade. Shortly thereafter we moved to another house...next door to a family with Pong. My life as a non-gamer was history.

From that day on I was hooked on gaming. I have played virtually every gaming system since: Atari, Colecovision, Intellivision, Apple II, Nintendo, SEGA Master System...all the way up to modern consoles and PCs. (I might have missed a few more obscure systems like Vectrex). All this gaming throughout my life has created a true gaming enthusiast (at least according to my ex-girlfriend, who constantly complained about my attention to gaming, and lack thereof to her...I wonder why she's now my ex.). I love, LOVE gaming. I actually have damn near gone broke buying gaming equipment. It's a little sad, really...(sigh).

Well, inevitably I fell into the world of online game reviews and previews. Being a tech geek, as well as a gamer, has also led me to hardware reviews, where I dedicate the majority of my time. My name is Kevin Blanchard, and I live in sunny CA. I am 30 years old and am currently a slave to my computer day in and day out. I have been gaming in one fashion or another since I was 6 years old. You name it, I have played it. Platforms of every type have fallen under my masterful control, from the quaint likes of the unwieldy Colecovisions and Intellivisions in days of old, to the sleek, sexy, and powerful Xboxes and Playstations of today.

But my one most loyal love affair has been PC gaming. Upon receiving my first 286 so many years ago and embarking upon the wonder that is PC gaming, I have been ensnared by the PC's indomitable grasp of creativity, performance, and innovation. I have played and enjoyed pretty much every genre of gaming in my 3 decade tenure on this planet, but tend to focus mainly on FPS and flight and driving sims. These are my joys, my releases, and sometimes my frustrations. It is my pleasure to serve as your conduit to what is fair and foul in the gaming world and I hope to continue in that role for a long time to come.

I am the baby of GWN compared to most of the other crusties dominating its vast virtual halls, being still in my late teen years. I was just getting into gaming as things were really starting to look up, my first gaming machine being a monstrous top-spec 233mhz machine with a full 16MB RAM. My first proper retail game was Magic Carpet, the entire game being on one solitary floppy disk. Now my extensive collection is bursting out from my cupboards and overflowing my shelves, as I build it up at a hefty rate.

Something that particularly irks me is the puerile geek branding given to many gamers from cretinous bigots who cannot comprehend the powerful source of entertainment that the PC offers. Being a PC gamer doesn't make you some sort recluse or pariah, some white-faced four-eyed nerd staring at a screen 24/7. Hence, I play football once a week, visit the gym regularly, and make sure I have a genuine social life, as well as a virtual one. Join the fight with me, and let's make PC gaming something to be proud of.

Oh yes, and I meant proper football as well, not that common misnomer used by everyone West of the pond. The sort where you only use your feet, hence the cleverly devised title. And yes, I am British for those less percipient readers.

I started my gaming life over 20 years ago. Owning everything from the Odyssey to the Xbox 360, My love of video games started at a young age and has continue to grow ever since. After over a decade of gaming I decided to jump into journalism and began writing nine years ago for various sources including IGN, IGN Mac, Gamespot, and Jagged*Team, before joining the team at GWN.

When I'm not busy writing novels or articles I also enjoy modding computers and absorbing every bit of information about the latest video cards and processors. Also as a side project me and a small group of friends have created an indie game development team called Giant Midget Games. We are currently busy working on a title for the PC that will allow people an extreme amount of freedom while creating different and fun ways to play, think Oblivion meets Spore.

31 May 2005: Sadly, Michael recently passed away while serving his country in Iraq. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife, his three children, and his family. Michael was one of our longest serving and most valued reviewers and will be missed dearly by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, and his family. Since the dawn of time mankind has faced certain fundamental questions – What is the meaning of life? Is there a God? Who is Adam Parker? Well, the first two aren’t that important, so let’s focus on the third. Some speculate that Adam is from space like Jimi Hendrix. Others maintain that he’s a cyborg created using top-secret government technology. Still others claim that he is merely a myth. While the origins of Adam Parker are uncertain, he is undoubtedly real.

Adam began his gaming life when he received an NES for Christmas many years ago. Since that time, he has owned most of the consoles that have come along. Some of his all time favorite games are Super Mario World, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Virtua Tennis, Shenmue, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Halo 1 & 2, KOTOR, Table Tennis, and a bunch of others he can’t remember right now. When he’s not gaming, Adam enjoys rocking out on his Fender Strat, playing tennis, and writing about himself in the third person.

David plays videogames. He has been playing them for a long time, but not as long as some of the other people here, because he isn't all that old yet. Currently he plays them on the PC, the Nintendo Wii & DS, the Playstation 2, and the Xbox360. He likes Action/Adventure games best, as well as platformers, puzzlers, and party games.

David also enjoys contemplating, discussing, and writing about videogames. He can be pretty harsh sometimes, but that's only because he thinks the industry needs some tough love. My name is James and I'm currently a tattoo artist in Salem, Oregon. I've been into games and tattoos for as long as I can remember. I'm currently in college working towards a BA in Game Art and Design. I race Sportbikes in the summer and snowboard in the winter. My favorite games are FPS, Flight Sims and Motorcycle Racing games. For the last few years I've prefered PC games but after buying an Xbox 360 I've found new joy in console gaming. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion has been the bane of my existence since I spend so much time playing it and little else.

Mike has been married and divorced twice and jokes that he is always looking for the next ex-Mrs. Triggs. That line never fails to irk Shannon, his girlfriend of the past ten years. Mike has three children; his sons Aaron, 17, Cody, 15, and Nathan, 13.

I may be the youngest of the squad, but that does not deter me from writing the best I possible can. I’m a junior at Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School. I absolutely adore video games and all the careers involved with it. Majoring in engineering, I plan to model for video games and engineering firms. In my spare time, I create personal videos. I have owned every console except the Sega Saturn. The first game I played was Sonic the Hedgehog, and yes, I did use the cheats, for fun. My most beloved item of possession is the Xbox 360. Any game is a game I want to play, but I favor action racers like Burnout and shooters like Prey and Halo 2. Xbox live is where I’m at. My name is Thomas Barton and I’ve been writing articles for Gameworld Network since June 8, 2006. I’m 24 years old, married and have one son (so far) named Oliver. I started gaming from an early age spending most of my time growing up in front of the TV playing Nintendo and reading game magazines.

In 2000 I moved from my home in Texas to Arizona so I could attend, at the time, one of the only schools offering a degree in Game Art & Design. Since graduation I’ve worked on two cell phone games, an infamous MMO called Dominus Online, and I’m currently working on several other web based game projects. A few of my all time favorite games are: Super Metroid, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Super Mario 64.

My philosophy on games has changed significantly now that I’m older. I once wanted to play games with a rich, moving story that would literally make you cry. I’ve come to realize the only thing that really matters is gameplay and everything else doesn’t really matter. This is why I feel that since about 1999 games, for the most part, have been rather dull and only recently has the game industry really started to be exciting again. That’s why now more than ever I’m fully embracing Nintendo’s vision of the future.

I have been gaming for many eons and have a habit of latching to the underdog when it comes to game system (Intellevision, Sega Master System... actually all of Sega's systems, Xbox, etc.) although I usually wind up purchasing all systems available. I also enjoy games on the PC from time to time.

I am a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.A. in Computer Art (concentration in interactive and game design). My day job is at an engineering firm, where I am a Graphics Specialist with an emphasis on SPECIAL. I take their ideas and make pretty "artist renderings" and "concept images" of them as well as make CG animations of how their inventions work. Interesting, eh?

Creative writing, gaming, and drawing are all hobbies of mine, and when I grow up I would like to some day adapt them into a job in the game industry (such as the fine work I do here at GWN). I also enjoy working on MODs and particularly enjoy level design (also hope to adapt that into a job in the game industry some day).

While video games may not be my life, per say, they are most definitely a very large part of it. I have worked as a volunteer writer for several sites before joining the staff here at Gameworld Network and spend a great deal of my time playing games. While I do tend to be biased against the more realistic styled games, like the Rainbow Six and Counter-Strike series, I have played my share of them. The one major genre that I hold no love for is Sports, however. I have not personally enjoyed a single one of the games released for the genre since the original Tecmo Bowl back on the NES.

While in school I never had intentions of majoring in writing or journalism but I have always enjoyed writing in general. Writing combined with games, however, is an entirely different story. Writing for a gaming website or magazine is something I did always want to do since the very first time I read issue one of Nintendo Power those many years ago.

Since the inception of the Atari 2600 I have owned the following systems: Atari 5200, NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance SP, Virtual Boy (not my brightest move), Nintendo 64, Playstation, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Xbox and Nintendo DS. As you can see, Nintendo has been a big part of my life. Even if video games die out during my lifetime, Nintendo will always hold a place in my heart.

Greetings and hello! I'm 23 and reside in sunny Miami Florida. I'm a graduate of Berry College with a degree in Journalism and I love writing and I'm the youngest of five and have a twin sister. Lets see I've been more or less a gamer all of my life. Having an older brother, I was privy to all sorts of gaming systems as a young tot. My favorite game during most of my childhood was Mario 2 for the NES. Though I dabbled off and on in gaming for a while, it wasn't until I was 15 that I played a game that had me enthralled in video games for the rest of my life. Heart of Darkness for the PS1 was like nothing I ever experienced. It was orchestrated and the CG movies were breathtaking. I was absolutely obsessed and it created the gaming nerd you see today.

That one game litterally shaped my whole plan of life. Before that I wanted to get into the music business, but it made me actually realize my art talent as I drew characters from my favorite games. I was known in college as that girl that played video games because any project I had to do, it was game related. I'm not a big PC gamer since the majority of the FPS (I'll never experience the full joy of a Halo game) make me motion sick. I do however enjoy strategy games like Shogun Total War, even if I'm strategically challenged. I also enjoy MMORPGs.

Do I do anything else besides gaming? Sure! I love to draw and I love reading (fantasy and horror my favorite dramas). I listen to lots of music but rarely anything in English. I'm also known as that wierd girl that listens to Japanese, Korean and Turkish music. I LOVE Korean boybands (and pop in general, sadly enough) despite myself and have gotten various friends and family members on the craze. Oh! And I love anime. Anything that has robots in it and I'll watch it (minus Patlabor, Appleseed and Ghost in the shell). Right now I'm really into XXXHOLiC and School Rumble.

I must admit the one thing that many find hard to do - video games are an addiction! I have been in love with video games and the entertainment they have provided since the Sega Genesis. Sure I had a NES but at the time, 32 bit was the way to go for kids my age. My first experience with video games was Pitfall for the Atari 2600. I was really hooked by the time my family got an NES. 

I enjoy a wide variety of games, most notably RPG's, 2D fighters, sports games, and racing games. Hey out there everyone, my name is Mitchell Saltzman and I was born and currently reside in sunny southern California. Right now I am a sophomore in college at Cal Poly Pomona working on getting a degree in journalism. I’m probably one of the younger and more inexperienced faces here at GWN with this being my first actual writing job, but I’m looking forward to improving myself through this whole experience so I can spread the news of gaming to the best of my ability.

As for my gaming background, I basically grew up with an NES controller in my hand. I was a pretty huge fan of the original Mega Man games (which I swear I was better at back when I was like 5.), Legend of Zelda, and of course Super Mario Brothers. I’m definitely a console gamer at heart, mainly due to the fact that I don’t have the money to keep on upgrading my computer whenever a new super graphics card comes out on the market. My favorite genres include RPG, Action/Adventure, Multiplayer Party Games, and First Person Shooters. Even though I only own a PS2, Gamecube, DS, and hopefully in the near future a Wii; I like to think of myself as someone whose only bias is for good games.

Now days, my favorite games would probably be Super Smash Brothers Melee, Guitar Hero, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, and Disgaea 2. Finally just to throw it out there, I’m also a huge anime fan with my favorites being One Piece, Monster, and Fullmetal Alchemist.

I am a game programmer by trade and a masked writer by night. I am a die hard Eagles and Philly Sports fan and will be until either of us die off. Writing is a serious passion of mine and helps me get in on the creative side of gaming instead of being the constant code monkey.

Some of my favorite titles include the Halo Series, Battle Field 2142, Project 8, The Dead or Alive Series, Street Fighter 3rd Strike, Star Wars: Rebel Assault, Half-Life, and a bunch of other huge titles that would take too long to list out. In my reviews I try and give the programmers some benefit of the doubt, but I also know where to hit them hardest when they do something wrong.

Greetings from dreary 'ol England.

I first got my grubby little mits on a videogame controller when I was around seven years old. The console - NES. Since then, i've become what many refer to as a 'hardcore' gamer (or, if you like stereotypes, a 'gaming geek') I'm a fan of many genres although truth be told, my favourite has to be action/adventure with the occasional dose of RPG antics. I own a large selection of consoles from the Atari to the PS2, but if i'm to make a choice, i'll have to admit Shigsy and the boys at the big N are my personal favourite of all the major players.

Oddly enough, I didn't always intend to become a videogames journalist. It wasn't until I started doing it as a hobby four years ago, that I realised how much I enjoyed it. Luckily for a bloke like me (who had never been to university), I managed to further myself through countless freelance efforts and eventually landed a job at GWN in July 2006. Haven't looked back since, and am now a writer on several gaming websites. Doesn't get much better than

Hello fellow gaming enthusiasts, my name is Mitchell and I've been with the GWN team since November of 2006. I was born and raised around Sydney, Australia, moving to the US at the age of 16 and residing in NJ/NY for seven years. Over in the states I attended Mason Gross School of the Arts where I got a BFA in Acting. I am now back in Australia but as evidenced through my mixed accent I have come to call both countries home.

My gaming life started with Atari and Commodore 64, but didn't kick into full gear until Nintendo joined my life. After a few transistions from Nintendo to Sega and back again I've pretty much stuck with Nintendo as my main gaming device, flirting with Sony and Microsoft only when absolutely neccessary. Some of my favorite games include Starflight, Mario 64, Resident Evil 4, Goldeneye, Eternal Darkness, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros.

Besides gaming and acting, my other interests include... well no that's about it! I love all types of music but very much into hip/hop and R&B. I also love reading, movies, writing poetry and lyrics, and my fave TV shows are Alias, South Park, Family Guy and The Daily Show with John Stewart. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me ;-)

Hey all, I hail from the capital of the world: New York City. I've been writing for GWN since 2006. I got my first taste of videogames at age four when I was handed a primitive handheld car racing game by my mother. I've been gaming for over 20 years ever since.

It was starting in highschool that I developed a deep interest in the gaming industry and writing. Upon entering college, I took a major in journalism and joined up with my campus newspaper, becoming its first and only videogame columnist for three years. I got my first paid freelancing job in 2006 for an online magazine called Played to Death (PTD). Later that year I earned a spot as a Staff Writer for GWN. I was promoted to a Veteran Writer in the middle of 2007. It's been my dream to continue to move up in the videogame journalism field.

I take pride in loving the games that most people don't, including The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Earthbound, Super Castlevania IV and Eternal Darkness, as well as old-school shooters and RPGs. When I'm not playing or creating videogames, I enjoy reading, writing, blogging, working out and just about every other activity that involes a screen or headphones.

I started writing for GWN during the same month that I started working in the games industry as a game developer. Since then life's been pretty hectic. While I don't review as many games as some of the other accomplished writers of our team, when I do get a chance, I try to play as much of the game as possible before doing the review. I feel that this gives the developers of the game a more fair review, and since I understand the code-side of things better than a writer without a programming background, this can help with that goal as well.

As far as my general background goes; I enjoy reading, writing, gaming, hanging with friends, and occasionally – partying. My favorite console game would have to be the "Tony Hawk" series, while my favorite arcade game is definitely "Super Off-Road." I have two Bachelor degrees, am an Alpha Kappa Psi alumnus, and recently got married to my longtime girlfriend Richelle. I enjoy watching or playing hockey with friends, some of which I have know for most of my life. I have a gaming console from every generation, and still play on the old ones from time to time. Overall, people who know me would tell you that I'm a laid back guy who's fun to be around. I enjoy joking around and having a good time with friends.

My experience writing for GWN has been great so far, and I intend to keep it going for quite some time.

Ahoy, gamers! Hailing from the American Midwest, I've had the fortunate opportunity to write on gaming alongside earning my degree in journalism. Though most tag Atari or the NES as the consoles they grew up on, I was nurtured by the Genesis' gentle 16 bits, and cite Sonic and Shining Force as the games that positioned my present appreciation.

Though I'm an avid online gamer, I like to promote gaming as a private, delicate interaction between a player and code; there's something to be said about uncorking a game like Shadow of the Colossus and dedicating a week to really get at its essence -- anticipating the next stage of play, and wringing every morsel of gaming goodness from the disc. Otherwise, I'm a game music enthusiast that enjoys listening as well as playing -- my favored themes coming from Ninja Gaiden, Shatterhand, Aladdin (GEN), Mega Man 2, Street Fighter II, Ratchet & Clank, and Ace Combat 4.

I'm keen on strategy games as a general rule, but my I consider my favorites Metal Gear Solid, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Advance Wars DS, Final Fantasy Tactics, Resident Evil 4, Gunstar Heroes, Shining Force II, Timesplitters: FP, Front Mission 3/4, and MechCommander.

I am male, I am Scottish and I currently live in Munich, Germany. As much as I would love to dazzle readers of my work with heroic tales about my path to freelance journalism, my story is about as typical as they come. After completing my degree in Sociology, Psychology and Social Policy I took a job working for local government. One afternoon whilst sitting at my desk, mindlessly chewing the end off of a pencil, I had an epiphany; 'hey' I thought, 'I never wanted to be an office automaton. I know, I am going to write, not only that I am going to write about something that I love; games'.

And with that chance firing of neurons, off I trundled to my local Scottish Enterprise office. Two months later I had obtained a 1000 grant with which I set up a freelance writing company. One week after that, I walked out of my job armed only with my new laptop and a steadfast resolve to succeed.  I began this career in the summer of 2006 and I now write for several online publications.

Hey everyone my name is Karn Spydar Lee Bianco, I currently live in Brighton on the south coast of England and have been a resident writer here at GWN since February 2007. I’ve been a gaming fan for as long as I can remember, my parents brought me up on a diet of Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog so I was essentially doomed from the start!

I’ve been dabbling with journalism and the games industry for around four years now. In that time I’ve met some great new people, developed my skills and attended some stonking industry events across the country! When I started writing I never really considered it anything more than a fun distraction, plus of course any excuse to get my hands on free games was always welcome!

However as time went on the whole thing really started to grow on me and I began to expand into new areas of writing, covering reviews, previews, news, researched articles, you name it. I also moved around from site to site offering freelance work as well as settling down for longer periods with one or two.

When I’m not writing or playing video games I can usually be found with my head stuck in a good book or watching the latest episode of one of my favourite TV shows (I have a lot of those, Lost, Smallville, StarGate, the list goes on!).

I also enjoy brief stints of programming (C#, XNA, ASP.NET) and web design whenever I get a chance, in addition to comic book and sci-fi obsessions my name pretty much becomes synonymous with your archetypal geek figure, but we all know geeks make for the coolest people anyway, right!?

I've been a part of GWN since January 2004 (back when it was PC Gameworld). I'm still primarily a PC gamer, but the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii have been stealing more and more of my gaming time.

My favorite game genres are real-time strategy, roleplaying, and first person shooters. Some of my favorite games include Jedi Outcast, StarCraft, System Shock 2, God of War, Diablo, and Freedom Force.

My wife and son are gamers too, and because all of us hate to lose, we tend to stick with co-op games.

When I'm not playing computer or video games, I enjoy playing roleplaying games, board games, card games, and miniature games. When I absolutely can't play a game at all, then I like to read game magazines, strategy guides, and websites. If even that is denied me, then I content myself with writing fiction, reading, programming, designing websites, watching Tivo, collecting DVDs, and listening to comedy albums.
