In a new article by the Wall Street Journal, they talk about Nintendo's comeback with the Wii. With US retailers claiming 1.5 Million Wiis will be sold by the end of year (two to three times the number of PS3s expected to be sold), Nintendo has commented:
"Demand, as you can see from the reaction of consumers, has been greater than even we had hoped for."
Sony responded with their typical arrogance, spokesman Dave Karraker proclaiming:
"We feel very confident that the PlayStation fan is going to wait until they can get a PlayStation 3...If they do pick up a Wii, it's as more of a novelty."
Computers.net then points out that eBay auctions for the Wii are selling for over $450, indicating very strong consumer demand for the console. Users on Craigslist.org are also reportedly offering to swap their unopened, expensive PS3s for a Wii console.
What do you think of the Wii so far? Is it just a gimmick? That's what some people said about the Nintendo DS, yet it has gone on to trounce the PSP in every region worldwide, and offers a fantastic gameplay experience with a steady stream of quality titles. So far, it's looking as if the Wii may follow in the footsteps of the DS.
