"It isn't because demand has weakened, it is because we have kept the supply pipeline moving."
We've all seen the photos. Stacks of PS3 systems sitting in game stores unpurchased, while the Wii remains sold out just about everywhere. Analyst P.J. McNealy's firm looked into the situation themselves. Out of 52 retailers, they found 28 of them had stock of the PS3. However, every single store was sold out of the Wii.
Sony's David Karakker responded today with the statement,
"It isn't because demand has weakened, it is because we have kept the supply pipeline moving."
That may be true, but one must also consider the fact that Nintendo has been shipping vast quantities of the Wii as well, and demand is still extremely high.
