Early reports suggest Treasure’s cult-classic shooter might be coming to the Xbox 360.
Ikaruga is a 2D vertical shooter developed by Treasure in a tiny four man team led by Hiroshi Iuchi who was also in charge of background graphic design and music composition. Originally released way back in 2001 on Sega’s NAOMI arcade system, Ikaruga has since been ported to both the Dreamcast and GameCube.
Computer and Video Games (CVG) are now reporting that another port could well be on the way, this time to the Xbox 360’s online Live Arcade system. After launching their debug 360 machine this morning they discovered the title but upon downloading all they received “was a Treasure logo before the game decided to crash”.
Whilst there is as of yet no solid date for a release, it is hoped that the developers will make the most of the opportunity and add some online modes that not even owners of the Dreamcast or GameCube versions will be able to resist, stick with GWN for more soon!
