Namco Bandai surprizes with a Wii original set for release this summer.
IGN Wii's Matt Casamassina recently broke the news of an original Wii game due out this summer from Namco Bandai, titled Space Station Tycoon. Developed by Wahoo Studios, the game challenges players to create and maintain their own space stations across a galaxy of colorful characters using the Wii Remote. Promising non-linear progression and "a ton of different environments", players take the role of a "wet-behind-the-ears kid named Shawn, and his sarcastic monkey friend Tam".
Speaking with Casamassina, project manager Brent Fox explains what drew the team to the Wii:
"We have always been drawn to the creative spirit of Nintendo. They have been willing to try something new and different and support the kind of games we want to make. Everyone at Namco Bandai Games has been a lot fun to work with on this wacky project with monkeys and pirates in space. I can't think of a better fit for this game other than the Wii. I know a lot of people give an answer like this, but they're all speaking the truth - working on this system rocks."
While party and co-operative modes have been announced, the latter allowing a second player to jump in at anytime during the main game, support for Wiiconnect 24 service cannot yet be confirmed. To read the full interview and see the first pics of the game, click here.
