Sony refutes reports that the PS3 is sitting on store shelves.
Despite reports from videogame retailers nationwide that PS3s are in healthy supply, Sony claims that the company is still struggling to keep up with demand for the console. SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton recently told Reuters that the demand for the Playstation 3 is so high, they don't think they'll be able to completely re-stock store shelves in North America until April or May.
"It's a testament to the fact that we've been able to manufacture and ship units on a greater pace than any previous console," says Tretton. "Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it's to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that's one less consumer who could have bought a PlayStation 3."
