In the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Sega have announced the latest installment in the Phantasy Star series, Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of Illuminus. As you can probably ascertain from the name the title will be online and will be a direct sequel to last years outing.

As of yet details are fairly scarce but what we do know is that the game will add a surplus of new weapons and clothing to match the style of ‘Phantasy Star Online’. But there will also be brand new types of weapons including photon whips and slicers!

Ambition of Illuminus will be released on the PC, Playstation 2 and Xbox 360, though no date has been provided as of yet. It has been rumored that the game will be launched this year but that has not been confirmed. There is also some doubt as to whether the game will be a brand new retail release or merely a expansion of downloadable extras for the previous title.
