During his keynote speech at GDC earlier today (which you can read about here, and watch in full here), Shigeru Miyamoto formally announced a brand new Wii channel that will allow gamers to compare their Mii’s and enter them into online popularity contests.

“Today people are so taken with the Miis around the world. I’m working on a new Mii channel.

With this channel we are going to let people compare the Miis they created in a popularity contest.

And you will be allowed to do this with people from around the world.”

We don’t know anything else at the current time, its possible this may merely become an update for the existing Mii channel, though it might not. Either way be sure to check back with GWN regularly for the latest Wii related updates!
