Square Enix recently held a press conference as a precursor to their 2007 Party which will be taking place this weekend (May 12 - 13) in Japan.
A plethora of tidbits were revealed about a variety of upcoming titles, some of which had been previously confirmed, with others being announced for the very first time.
One such newly announced title is Chocobo's Dungeon: Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu for the Nintendo Wii. Shinji Hashimoto, the executive producer for the Chocobo franchise revealed the title, exclaiming that:
"In honor of the 10th anniversary of the Chocobo series, I'd like to announce that a new Chocobo Dungeon game is in development for the Nintendo Wii."
The game will act as a ‘spiritual successor’ to the DS title; Chocobo Tales which was released recently.
For example, players will find themselves beginning their adventure in a hometown complete with a “familiar cast of characters,” but will move on to a “dungeon-based action game”.
The game’s producer Yuki Yokoyama concluded by noting that:
"Finally, a word for those who enjoyed Chocobo Tales, we are including something special that should be very familiar to you to discover, and I hope you're looking forward to this title as much as I am."
In an attempt to help promote the game, Square Enix decided it would be a nice treat for those in attendance if a giant Chocobo were to turn up and started dancing!
