Capcom's latest financial results confirm that Resident Evil 5 will not be released before April 2008.
Capcom’s latest financial results has revealed that the next sequel in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 5, will not be released before the current financial year ending April 2008.
The game was conspicuous by its absence in the company’s financial line-up for this year, which runs through until spring of next year. Sadly, this basically means that the game will not be released until some time after April 2008, meaning fans will have to endure yet another long wait.
First revealed almost two years ago in July 2005, Resident Evil 5 has been shrouded in a cloud of ambiguity, with fans only having a short trailer to wet their appetites, and little else to follow on. Many have speculated it will mark the return of series veteran Chris Redfield (who appeared in Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica), though much of the games plot – enemies included – remains very much open to interpretation. The game is currently slated for simultaneous release on PS3 and Xbox 360.
In other news, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is still very much on track for a 2007 release date, and the company anticipates strong sales from movie and cartoon tie-ins, along with renewed interest in the Mega Man franchise.
