The ASA has named and shamed a poster for Burnout Dominator as being “irresponsible” following a series of complaints.
Gamesindustry.biz are reporting that the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) have labeled a Burnout Dominator advert as “irresponsible” following a slew of complaints from the public.
The poster (pictured above) depicts a smoldering car wreck and includes the phrase “Inner peace through Outer Violence.” The ASA revealed that they have received a total of 37 complaints thus far.
"The complainants described the advert as offensive as it condoned and was likely to encourage violence, dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour such as vandalism," said an ASA spokesperson.
"The Advertising Standards Authority determined that the implication of the advertisement was likely to cause serious or widespread offence."
Electronic Arts responded stating that it was clear that the advert was for a videogame and was not condoning violence, but have agreed to remove all instances of the poser in its current form.
