Owners of the Xbox 360 enjoyed full coverage of E3 direct from the Live service last year with exclusive trailers, video coverage and demos being released on a daily basis.
One would think Sony would be trying their best to compete this year, now that the PSN is up and running for PS3 owners, but so far Sony have not announced plans to cover E3 via the service. Nothing, not a single demo or even a video of their press conference.
If Sony really wish to compete with the big boys, they would do well to listen to the media, and start giving gamers what they want. If Sony's E3 showing is going to be worth checking out, it's really in their own best interest to provide full coverage to the PS3 community via PSN. With one week now until E3, it's unlikely we'll hear or see anything from Sony on this front, although we'd love to be wrong.
It would be absolutely devastating for Sony if they didn't provide regular demos, news and videos to PS3 owners throughout the E3 Media and Business Summit of 2007. We'll let you know if and when they update the PSN with E3 content.
Update: Despite Sony's silence, the main content board on the PlayStation Store has been updated with a sign that reads, "E3: Get ready for something new July 11th - July 13th."
This could suggest that PS3 users may in fact receive some E3 goodies. Earlier today Ninja Theory hinted that the PSN would see a demo for Heavenly Sword very soon.
