The latest hardware numbers from Media Create reveal that sales of Nintendo consoles in Japan have shown a noticeable decline in the territory, with DS selling lower than 100,000 units for the first time this year.
The handheld still leads the competition selling a total of 94,339 units, with Wii sales also down at 39,371 units during the same period.
Sony’s PlayStation 3 was the only console to increase in sales from the previous week, selling 18,068 units in what is largely attributed to the release of Koei’s Bladestorm during the same week. PlayStation Portable sales were at 22,196 with PlayStation 2 at 14,280.
Bringing up the rear was Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console which sold 16,35 units of hardware, followed by Gameboy Advance with 474 and GameCube at 73.
New software entries included Bladestorm for PS3, One Piece: Gear Spirit for Wii and Summonight: Twin Age for DS.
