The Sims creator will soon become the first member of the video games industry to receive such an honour.

Will Wright, creator of The Sims amongst other super-popular video games, has been nominated to become the first member of our beloved industry to receive a Fellowship at this year’s Awards.

“Will’s immense, creative body of work and his continued contribution to the industry make him a most worthy recipient of the Fellowship and being such a pioneer, we are thrilled that he will be the first person to receive this honour,” said Hilary Bevan Jones, Chairman of the Academy.
This year marks the first time a Fellowship has been used to mark achievement in the games industry, with the awards previously focusing on TV and Film only.

Wright will be joining the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin and Steven Spielberg.
