Capcom confirms that the game has been pushed back “into a slightly cleaner release window” to help its chances for higher sales.
Over the past week or so, a number of online retailers – including Gamestop, Amazon and Gamefly – have all changed their scheduled release dates for Harvey Birdman to placeholder dates.
Since then, Capcom’s senior Directory of Strategy has posted on the company’s official forums to confirm that the game has indeed been delayed:
“The game is and has been finished, submitted and approved, however we felt releasing the game on the same day 112 other SKUs released was not ideal for its chances. Retail buyers agreed.
As such, we’ve opted to move the title out into a slightly cleaner release window. This will allow us to get on more shelves, do a bit more outreach to the media and hopefully get the fans in on the action a bit more.”
No word on what the new date is, but we’ll be sure to let you know just as soon as we receive confirmation.
