EA's co-op focused shooter delayed until next year.
The jam-packed holiday release schedule just got a little less crowded. Electronic Arts' co-op focused shooter Army of Two has been delayed until the first quarter of 2008, to "add extra polish to the game," in the words Alan Tascan, executive producer on the project, speaking with 1Up.
"This was based on a lot of feedback we had internally and externally. Where we failed is in questioning whether we could really make the game better. I agree with you that this decision came at the last second, but it still came and I think that's better for everybody. I think the fundamentals are there, we just need to add in the extra polish that we now have the time to do."
While this is probably the best decision for Army of Two, both from a competition standpoint and for the game's "polish," the private military contractor theme of the game would have made for an interesting convergence with real-life events: the ongoing controversy involving the U.S. State Department's contracts with PMCs like Blackwater USA.
