Why are Nintendo Wiis harder to find than good Sonic games produced in the last decade? Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter said a weak U.S. dollar is the true culprit.

With the Euro doing better than the dollar, Pachter said Nintendo made a  financially savvy move by sending excess Wiis to Europe instead of the U.S. Now that demand for the console is subsiding (because people in Europe could actually get it) Pachter expects Wiis to start turning up stateside.

GameStop has said it believes more Wiis are coming into the market soon as well, and you have to figure the mega-retailer has the contacts to know. Best Buy's recent actions may indicate some knowledge on their part. On March 30, Best Buy held some promotional events at several of its stores to get women more comfortable with the Wii. That could be interpreted as a move the retailer would make if it knows the product will become more readily available.
