Players may notice that upon starting the demo, the controls for flying aren’t as user-friendly as they could have been. Holding down the Left Bumper, players will control the flight of Iron Man meanwhile pressing halfway on the Left Trigger will have Iron Man hover at a constant altitude and pressing it all the way down will provide Iron Man with the chance to gain altitude while hovering. To maneuver, players will use the the left thumbstick and to look around the environment, they’ll have to use the right thumbstick. So with these controls, it gets a little confusing as you are thrown right into the thick of things and have to manage flying accurately.
Hold up, I actually may be featured in a quality game?
For the other controls, Iron Man is able to melee and grapple with enemies through use of the B Button, dodge and boost with the A Button, employ counter measures with the X Button, shoot the main weapon with the Right Trigger, make use of the auxiliary weapon with the Y Button, redistribute the power of the suit through the D-pad (i.e. Life Support, Weapons, etc.) and finally, the Right Bumper gives Iron Man the ability to use his unibeam.
As for the ground combat, it’s not as entertaining as it could have been since fighting tanks with your fists isn’t the most attractive option, but Secret Level did put in a few action-time sequences to have players ripping off the tank guns and throwing it at another opposing enemy. When not entering into a grapple, players can punch their way through the tanks, but I advise flying around and taking advantage of the fire power behind Iron Man’s repulsors and unibeam. As players push on through the demo, the controls should become more familiar with time; if this doesn’t occur, they can always go to the options menu and adjust accordingly with the sensitivity and inversion.
Helicopters? Yeah, right!
There’s a lot more to Iron Man than meets the eye. Players will be able to upgrade the suit throughout the game by collecting funds and buying upgrades before missions. There are five areas that players can upgrade and configure the Iron Man suit to their own liking including: core systems, repulsors, power systems, auxiliary weapons, and mobility enhancements. Each of these five areas are able to be upgraded three times and open up the possibility of equipping different weapons and armor that are graded on three to four different criteria such as firepower, special abilities and several others.
