The development team has pointed out that the core of the game is “choices that have impact” or “meaningful choices”. They want everything that the player can do to have an impact somewhere. So you’ll have an effect on future narrative, the gameplay, what combat styles are available to you, and the dialog changes based on your choices as well.

What’s different about these choices is that each choice you can make is somehow associated with one of four Gods (Ares, Hermes, Apollo, Athena). The choice you make causes you to earn favor with that God. So, in dialog for example, you’ll have 4 responses to choose from. Every time you make a dialog choice, you’re choosing a personality approach to the situation. These choices gain you favor with that particular God, and the favor points are used to improve the character, gain new powers, etc... So basically you level up in each one of the Gods, and those Gods give you access to new skills and abilities.
The levels in the game are islands that you travel to via a massive ship called the Argo. Every island has its own story, and those stories contribute to the overall story arc. Each island is sacred to one of the four Gods, and you’ll have to interact with the inhabitants and somehow affect the place in a positive way before you can move on in the search for the Golden Fleece.

Rise of the Argonauts looks to be quite a fun game. I’ll be interested to see how they carry the theme of “interesting choices” throughout the games entirety. The game is due to release in mid October, for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. From what I’ve seen of it already, I’m a fan, and I look forward to its release.
