Although the missions are fairly straight forward (bomb this, shoot down that) you manage to get sucked in. Telling yourself that you’ll stop playing after just one more mission seems to be the battle cry. I found myself playing through the entire U.S. campaign in two sittings of about 4 hours each. So it’s arguably not the longest game ever made, there’s some safety in knowing that there’s also the Japanese campaign as well as online multiplayer.

When it’s all said and done this is a very well designed and executed game. There are a few points that really shouldn’t have been overlooked before shipping it, but all in all it’s a heckuva lot of fun and I would be hard pressed to find a game that runs better than this one. It’s solid, pretty and so entertaining bombing little peasant villages on your way to your rendezvous point.

Attack on Pearl Harbor is quite possibly the closest a game has ever gotten to being really, really good without doing it. The saddest part is the few mistakes that were made were so minute, yet they affected the game so much. The problems in this game would have taken a few days to correct. Had that happened, this game would be a top notch arcade style flight sim. It's just a shame it didn't happen.
