John Woo Presents Stranglehold
Home : Games : Reviews : PC / Windows : John Woo Presents Stranglehold

This is a slight ripoff of recent action games. But then, recent action games paid homage to John Woo. It would have been better if Woo created the end-all of action games to show the men who pinched from him how it is done, but that didn't happen.

This is an entertaining, if short and mindless, action game designed for the frenetic crowd. You kill and kill, and then kill some more. If that sounds like your style, pick this up. Others may want to download the demo first. The demo is like 20% of the game, or at least it feels that way. Multiplayer got dull very fast.

Highs
Great action; good graphics; voice acting; real fast-paced fun.

Lows
No depth; repetitive multiplayer; very short.

Final Verdict
In a world with Bioshock and Mass Effect, this game doesn't hold up. If you are looking for depth, look elsewhere. Still, if you want to have fun, this game does offer it, even if it does seem very familiar. Consider this 'John Woo Presents His Version of Max Payne'.
