Ninja Reflex

Now if all the modes worked perfectly then the fun would definitely be ramped up. But all too often your movements go unread by the game, or delayed. At first I thought my reflexes must be garbage. So after having a friend try the game with me, and another, and another, we came to the conclusion that the game just doesn't always work as intended. There is a distinct lack of polish over the motion controls, and that is what can severely limit what fun there actually is to be had here.

Ninja Reflex does have a fairly neat visual presentation. The loading screens and menus are filled with Japanese-style sketches, and the graphics are fairly good, even with some pop-ins that can occur from time to time. The animation is smooth and rarely there is a framerate hiccup. The sound is easily forgettable, and even brinks on annoying. Each "chink" of the shuriken inched me one step closer to tossing the Wiimote through my television.

If only you could toss the star at him. 100 points!

Multiplayer is present, yet you can only do the six base mini-games with it. You can't use any of the interesting modifyers or "objectives". It gets old very fast, is only worth a single shot. There is nothing to keep a group of four entertained, and coming back for more.

Perhaps the most fun to have in this game. Catching a fly with a chopstick.

So, here it is folks. Ninja Reflex is simply another sub par, party game for the Wii that undergoes lazy development and tries to fix it all by sticking the "budget title" label on there. The really disappointing thing here, is it doesn't even do what it sets out to very well. It falls short in every respect. Honestly, Wii owners may want to stay home from this ninja training.

Highs
A few fun game types. Good visual presentation.

Lows
Repetitive. Plain boring. Very few game types. Unpolished, and the sound can drive you mad.

Final Verdict
Even at the budget price Ninja Reflex is an avoidable title. The only value this game could have had would have been to bundle it with a much more superior product.
